Summertime Blues

Welcome to June, when the Sun is up high in the sky, and the air is moving like thick molasses. Summertime is here and so is the lighter mood. Except, I don’t feel it! I’m grumpy and cooped up inside, nursing a back injury. Dealing with a compression vertebrae fracture is not something that was on a menu this summer. Yet, here it is, a literal PITA in the lumbar area.
I need this shirt!

Obviously, it was not planned or expected, and it involved a series of unfortunate events, involving my dog and stepfather. Here’s the culprit that started it all. She turned 2 last month, but she’s still full of puppy energy sometimes.

This person turned 26 last month too. Where has the time gone?! Yep, he’s still on a bike. He’s been talking about owning it since he was 12, and he’s now looking into his 3rd one. I think the beast stays, at least for now. Maybe he’ll review it when he’s got his own children.

Here are the two kids together. As you can see, only one of them is paying attention.

We had a great time, celebrating their birthdays. Humans indulged in a Basque cheesecake (crustless, caramelized top version) with berries. Raise your hand if you want a future post with the recipe!

The kid got this custom-made beer mug for his birthday.

And for Mother’s Day, we had this lovely Victoria sponge cake, stuffed with strawberries. Raise your hand if you want this recipe too!

As I lay here, taking care of my injury, I’m contemplating what kind of recipes to make once I’m up and cooking again. Hopefully soon! Let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see posted. And send healing vibes! I need them!
I want to be a kid again and swing on monkey bars and have no care in the world!
