Gratitude – Day 11

Today I’m grateful not just for 3 things but for a million of them, or rather for eternity…

On a day when the world mourns a 13th anniversary of 9/11, I have my own reasons to remember and to be grateful.

To be a personal witness to it all and to be a survivor…

For my cell phone being able to suddenly work when the whole area was a “dead cell zone” and my husband to get through to tell me to leave as soon as I can…

For my sense of self-preservation kicking in and pushing through the bewildered crowd to exit the WTC plaza just before the first tower collapsed…

For being able to hug my then 4 year-old son when I finally got home knowing that so many people were lost and couldn’t do it anymore…

For everything that the years after brought to me, including cancer that I got due to the prolonged exposure to the toxic dust that lingered in the area, otherwise how would I know that I could be so strong…

For every thought and for every image that I still carry as they don’t let me forget and make me cherish everything I have in my life…

For being able to share this story with the world…
